assalamualaikum
as you can see, many people, especially malaysian tend to judge people by their appearence. not to say that malaysian are bad and all, it's just that sometimes they tend to make assumption based on the obvious. for example, this issue has been around for awhile and many did bid their comments and opinion but, some tend to be more loud than others.
the issue is TUDUNG / HIJAB.
i don't see why this can be an issue. everyone, especially women have rights whether to wear hijab or not to wear because basically we're not sharing our sin-and-blessing book, not sharing the same grave and not to be punished by the Al Mighty for somebody else's mistakes. i know, its our duty as Allah's ummah to console people to wearing hijab because its better but if that person wear hijab because she was asked/forced to, the outcome of this is that the person will eventually treat the hijab like a switch, on and off. i have seen this happen many times and i just think that this is wrong. when it comes to wearing hijab, we must be istiqamah and be honest with ourself. i wore my hijab full time on my 17th birthday and my mom didn't pressure me to wear hijab. so girls, please sleep over the matter whether you're ready or not to wear hijab before so start going out wearing it, because you may not realise that your act of treating hijab like a switch may give the other girls who are fully commited to wearing hijab a bad name.
this is just my opinion.
wassalam.
